So, I’ve linked to this post a few times because the Joyco Solano campaign has come up a few times. Here, I’m going to link to a downloadable copy of the file. (It’s RM, how crummy.) Why?
Well, I was sent a trademark complaint by someone who owns the American trademark of Joyco. They claimed that the video, archived for historical use (which I probably should add to all my videos?), was actually damaging their trademark by being a product unrelated to them.
This isn’t the first time. I got a similar complaint last year, which I talked about. But this time, the video is gone and cannot be returned. Google’s structure doesn’t care to negotiate the nuances here—I can’t combat or retaliate against this complaint because Google does’ t care to be in the middle of any of this. Moreover, Google sees the person as having standing since the complainant takes issue with the video itself, not the description. I’d have to edit out the text “Joyco”.
All I know is that the video was taken down by a “Grand Candy LLC.” I asked about this somewhere, and somebody managed to dox whatever they could. FYI, finding names and details behind a LLC is murky A F.
